Two Quotes on Aesthetics and one Kabir Bhajan

Subramaniam Chadrasekhar, Nobel laureate physicist, in his acclaimed book ‘Truth and Beauty: Aesthetics and Motivations in Science’ quoted J.W.N Sullivan, author of perceptive biographies of Newton and Beethoven and the quote is:

“Since the primary object of the scientific theory is to express the harmonies which are found to exist in nature, we see at once that these theories must have an aesthetic value. The measure of the success of a scientific theory is, in fact, a measure of its aesthetic value, since it is a measure of the extent to which it has introduced harmony in what was before chaos”

And let me place another quote from noted Hindustani singer Dr. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande on aesthetics, before offering a beautiful Kabir Bhajan in‘Hamsadhvani’ by this thinking artiste:

“My idea of aesthetics and harmony is from my mother. Whatever my mother say is beautiful, proved to be beautiful to me”
