Followed by Ustad Sultan Khan’s demise on 27th November, the last day of the month had snatched away another giant, a great Indian flautist Pandit Vijaya Raghav Rao. November has become the cruellest of the months!
He was settled in the U.S for last many years and once Pt. Rao commented on his life in music through different cultures:
"Gandhiji once said in a prayer meeting", says he, "Sangeet ke bina sangatee kahan?" ("Can there be kinship without music?..."). "Music, my music, is a catalyst between hearts of diverse moulds, between societies of different temper. It makes my life come full circle: from its roots, away, and back again."
